One Week in Robotics
From Neura's RoboGym to our hackathon. And the question that came with me: what is reality, and where is this really going in digital print production?

News, insights, events and the Kyveris build log from the Durst Group. Everything that does not fit into a press release. Why “Ground Control”?
The running build log of an industrial intelligence programme. Problems before solutions, work in progress before finished results.
Teams from across the Durst Group spent two days in Brixen working on one shared picture of Kyveris.
What customers and partners asked us at PRINTING United, and what it set in motion back in Brixen.
A good Friday nobody can explain. A complaint nobody saw coming. Why the Kyveris Beta Program starts with measuring, not automating.
What happens between the press releases – the people, decisions and events that shape the Durst Group.
How our machines, software and robotics are built – from the people who build them.
More than 4,200 Durst systems are running in production worldwide, looked after by 1,150+ people in over 35 subsidiaries. The signals in this blog come from the people who build them.
Why “Ground Control”
In 1969, David Bowie released Space Oddity. Major Tom travels further than anyone before him and gets the finest view there is. Then the connection is gone.
A beautiful song. As a model for an ambitious project, less convincing.
With Kyveris, and with much of the work described here, we are heading somewhere new ourselves. So we took the other role in the song: the station that stays in contact, listens and reports what it sees.
That is what this blog is for. Weekly signals from work in progress – what we are building, what we have learned, what did not work. Written by the people doing the work.
The BBC played Space Oddity during its coverage of the Apollo 11 mission in July 1969 – a song about losing contact, broadcast to one of the largest audiences in history.
The playlist
The name came from a song, so we kept the music going. Tracks for deep work, long builds and recovering from meetings that should have been an email.
Track one is where it all started. Curated by Christoph Gamper and Philip Mödinger, updated constantly.
